While no one is immune to these catastrophes, it is, as always, the poorest who are hit hardest.
CIFOR-ICRAF is working to build resilience among vulnerable populations, from smallholder farmers in Africa’s drylands to coastal fishing communities in Indonesia. Research is revealing just how interconnected trees and water are – and how sustainable forest management, agroforestry and wetlands conservation can replenish our watersheds and lower carbon emissions.
