Alex Lau has been Team Leader for Environment and Sustainable Commodities at the British Embassy, Jakarta since August 2022. They have worked for the UK government for over 10 years. Their career has focused on two areas: sustainable trade, including supply chain development, trade facilitation and negotiation; and climate and environment, particularly climate finance and disaster risk. Prior to Jakarta, they were part of the COP26 Presidency team, leading the climate finance campaign.
Outside of work, Alex is a keen scuba diver and paraglider and enjoys exploring Indonesia’s terrestrial and marine environments.
