Science needs clear communication channels to cut through the noise, if research is to have any impact. CIFOR-ICRAF is as passionate about sharing our knowledge as we are in generating it.
CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests,
landscapes, people and the planet.
We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and
restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short,
improving people’s lives.
Scaling smallholder tree-based systems for resilience and carbon removals
Show the livestream
The multiple crises facing the world, including deforestation and biodiversity loss, climate change, broken food systems, unsustainable value and supply chains, and extreme inequalities, have put agroforestry on the top of most consensus lists of how to successfully combat multiple in cost-effectively and in an integrated way. Though an old practice, agroforestry faces a future and urgent demand for expansion to counter the negative impacts of mal-adapted land management, especially through poor agricultural practices. This session will explore the potential of agroforestry technologies in enhancing small-holder farmers’ adaptation and promoting ecological and livelihood resilience, in addition to meeting national mitigation goals on carbon remaoval as outlined in the country specific NDC documents. It brings together experts from Asia and Africa to share their experiences and also allows the audience to engage with the experts through questions and answers.
