CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages. .

Transformative Partnership Platform

Tree Seed and Seedling Delivery Systems

Supporting landscape restoration in sub-Saharan Africa through diverse, high-quality native tree species

Background

Achieving Africa’s restoration targets will require effective tree seed and seedling delivery systems to support tree planting, but current systems are suboptimal. This issue has gained prominence on the restoration agenda, with substantial investments being made to address it.

What is tree seed and seedling delivery systems?

Through projects such as the Right Tree in the Right Place – Seed initiative, we aim to increase the supply of planting material of a diverse range of native tree species in Africa. In support of this, we are building the transformative partnership platform for tree seed and seedling delivery systems (Seed TPP) to empower Africa-wide stakeholders to develop sustainable, integrated and high-quality tree seed and seedling sectors for effective landscape restoration and broader tree planting. Seed TPP will support the co-development and dissemination of evidence-based policies and practices, and of tailored decision-support tools

If you are an investor, landscape restoration planner, policymaker or organization involved in tree planting, join us and help guide the platform’s development.
