Objective
Strengthening and Institutionalization of the Observatory of Central African Forests, Phase 1 and Phase 2
Central Africa forest ecosystems are preserved and contribute to the well-being of the populations who depend on them and all of humanity, thanks to a management made sustainable by decision-making based on credible and regularly updated information.
OFAC, which enjoys a clear and reinforced status within COMIFAC, capitalizes, manages and makes available up-to-date and credible information on the forests and ecosystems of Central Africa, used by governments and stakeholders in forest and environmental management in their decision-making.
Geographical scope:
Cameroon, Central African Republic (CAR), Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Chad, Sao Tome and Principe, Burundi, Rwanda.
Duration: 30 months
Total cost: 2.8 million Euros
Implementing partners: CIFOR, CIRAD, FRM, UCL
Target groups: Policy makers from COMIFAC countries, technical and financial partners, academics and researchers.
Final beneficiaries: Local populations and citizens of countries in the COMIFAC zone as well as the world through the preservation of global public goods.
