Dr. Ir. Niken Sakuntaladewi, M.Sc is a researcher with strong experience and background in forestry. She obtained her Ph.D. from the North Carolina State University, the United States majoring in Social Forestry, M.Sc from Wageningen University, the Netherlands majoring in Social Forestry, and Bachelor degree from Gadjah Mada University majoring in agroforestry. She was stationed in Kalimantan for seven years, where she directly learned and worked on forestry and environmental issues on the ground. She is a researcher at the Center for Standardization of Disaster Resilience Instruments and Climate Change (formerly at the Center for Research and Development of Socio-Economic Policy and Climate Change). She has been a coordinator for the ACIAR program, a collaboration between the Indonesian and Australian Government titled ‘Improving Community Fire Management and Peatland Restoration in Indonesia’. She was also a coordinator for the World Bank Forest Carbon Partnership Facility for REDD+ in Indonesia. Before joining the Center, she worked with ICRAF (World Agroforestry Center), Indonesia, and European Union project in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.
