Project launch to scale restoration in Africa: Right tree in the right place for the right purpose
The RTRP-Seed project aims to supply quality native tree seeds in Africa, crucial for advancing ambitious forest landscape restoration commitments such as Africa's AFR100 initiative under the Bonn Challenge.
The main objective of this program, spanning five countries (Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso), is to bolster ambitious forest and landscape restoration pledges by ensuring a sustainable supply of quality native tree planting material. This will facilitate the achievement of restoration commitments connected to Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans
(NBSAPs), Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) targets, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project, in collaboration with consortium partners; Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) and Unique Land Use GmbH, directly contributes to the UN Decade by strengthening capacity towards evidence-based restoration movements on the continent
