Backing biodiversity: Financing forests & trees
CIFOR-ICRAF at UNCBD COP16
21 Oct – 1 Nov 2024, Cali, ColombiaCan civil society bridging the three Rio Conventions?
More than 30 years after the Earth Summit in Rio, the hope for implementing and mainstreaming strong policies for altering the course of history can only be kept alive if we manage to transform promises into tangible results. The idea of halting silos is not a novel one: climate, biodiversity and land are all interconnected in the real world. But what is actually needed to bring these streams of policy commitments on the same table especially in an era of rising conflict? How can this help us hold decision-makers accountable and ensure that commitments, made year after year under these conventions, translate into meaningful action?
This interactive workshop aims to bring together young and seasoned experts to explore how the three Rio Conventions—Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Desertification, can work together to create real change.
