CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

Description

In 2011, Ethiopia and Norway agreed to work together on climate change and green growth when Ethiopia launched its Climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) Strategy in Durban, South Africa. The agreement was reached in recognition of Ethiopia's extremely ambitious plans to transform from a low to a middle-income country, without depleting its natural resources and increasing greenhouse gas emission stable, as well as the progress Ethiopia made in restoring degraded landscapes and its leadership in international climate negotiations.

Since 2013 this has included work on REDD+ and in these years Ethiopia has developed a REDD+ Investment Program (RIP). This RIP is now moving towards a phase 2.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) in collaboration with the Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Commission (EFCCC) are developing a RIP Phase II Program Document, based on the experience and lessons learned from RIP Phase I and with a consideration of the Midterm Review report and recommendations. CIFOR is providing facilitation support for this the process.
