CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Description

In this project CIFOR-ICRAF provides strategic advice and direction to Stockholm International Water Institute on the TIARA initiative and its components such as the “Enhancing rainfed agricultural systems in the Zambezi Watercourse 2021 – 2025”.

This advice focuses firstly on a context, stakeholder and problem analysis combined with consultation and awareness raising; and secondly on the business case where we quantify the costs and benefits of inclusive, integrated approaches to enhanced rainfed agriculture and advocacy outreach to demonstrate the value of investments into enhanced rainfed agricultural solutions.

The technical support covers the following themes:
1. The potential impact of investing in improved rainfed agriculture at large scale on rural economic regeneration through stimulating rural employment - direct and indirect impacts
2. The positive knock-on effects in small and medium enterprises
3. Special attention to the benefits and roles of women and young people
