CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Description

Land allocation practices in the Republic of Congo have long lacked strategic coordination and cross-sectoral harmonization. This lack of intersectoral coordination, particularly in terms of securing user rights, is one of the indirect causes of deforestation and forest degradation. The establishment of a multi-sectoral spatial planning process is a priority social and environmental issue. The Sustainable Land Use Program (PUDT), led by the Government of the Republic of Congo as part of its partnership with the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI), has the general objective of defining a inclusive and concerted planning process for the use and use of rural land at the national level, which makes it possible to support the implementation of the country's economic diversification policy, expressed in the National Development Plan 2022-2026.
