Descriptions
The objective of the assignment is to provide clarity on the concept of benefit-sharing mechanisms and what constitutes an ‘impactful BSP’ and develop training tools and approaches that provide key in-country actors -- specifically government decision-makers, civil society stakeholders, including the private sector and NGOs, as well as practitioners such as the World Bank task teams with necessary knowledge and capacity to:
1) decide on the critical priorities of the BS arrangements depending on the circumstances, country context and legal framework; ER Program context and purposes to ensure a necessary balance of 3Es.
2) understand all necessary components of the impactful BSP and how to incorporate them in terms of creating conditions and mechanisms, as well as arrangements for achieving higher emission reduction results and sustaining them over a long period, and incentivizing further emission reductions.
3) to design strong arrangements for generating co-benefits to ensure commitment of the communities and other stakeholders; and motivate and incentivize governments to become more actively involved in ER programs and seek achievement of higher co benefits such as biodiversity preservation,
economic development; securing land tenure for IPLCs; and other.
