CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Descriptions

CIFOR is implementing a scoping study to identify and evaluate promising emerging models of participatory biodiversity conservation for their potential to serve as added pillars of a successful global biodiversity conservation strategy. This study is used to inform the upcoming Dialogues and the design of the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD) post-2020 biodiversity framework.

In doing so, it helps to ensure that the post-2020 biodiversity framework reflects the recommendations of CBD article 10 on sustainable use, particularly 10c, which states that Parties shall protect and encourage customary practices that are compatible with conservation (22), as well as promoting the concept of 'other effective area-based conservation measures' in meeting the requirements of Target 11 (19).
