CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Description

The GLFx initiative illustrates GLF’s (Global Landscape Forum) ambition of building decentralized action at a community level and it is designed to enable local people to accelerate action on the ground. Through the past year, with the support of Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH (RBSG), the GLF has developed the GLFx Initiative and established local community-led chapters for sustainable landscapes across Africa.
The goals of the GLFx initiative are to decentralize and democratize access to knowledge leveraging GLF partners; facilitate local-local and local-global knowledge exchange; provide local actors with targeted learning opportunities and resources; and, ultimately, seed and scale positive action at the local level for global impact. With the broader GLFx program, the GLF wishes to create a global community of local landscape actors that have the tools to lead changes on the ground toward sustainable pathways of landscape management that are beneficial to people, nature and climate, and resilient in the face of inevitable climate change effects.
With this specific project, creating different activities such as peer-to-peer learning or global communication and outreach campaigns (among others), the project aims at increasing the confidence, visibility, network, and long-term sustainability of local communities for the restoration of their landscapes, resulting in a stronger and more resilient balance between people’s needs and nature. This has the power to support those individuals already suffering from the climate crisis toadopt measures for adjusting to a changing climate and combat its effects on their landscapes
