Description
One of the major challenges in agriculture extension is how to reach remote, rural farmers with information in a form they can understand, apply with relative ease and by so doing reap benefits. These challenges are exacerbated by high extension to farmer ratios and limited technical capacity for innovation and technology transfer approaches. Digitalization of agriculture extension has potential to profoundly transform the way farmers access extension services, produce, interact with agro-industries, input suppliers and their distribution networks and finance services. Phygitals are an innovative technology that bridges digital approaches and physical interventions on farms and offers breakthrough capabilities in potential to reach every single farmer with context specific innovations for improved productivity. The project will use participatory approaches and other qualitative methods that include profiling stakeholders, tools, and innovations and will be implemented in the Eastern Province at household level, comparing the impacts of conventional extension approaches versus phygitals.
