CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Descriptions

The Action “United for Sustainability in the Yangambi Landscape” (abbreviated as FORETS-III) represents the natural continuation of the practical experiences already underway for several years in the Yangambi Landscape, carried out through the actions Nouveaux Paysages du Congo (NPC), FORETS (phases I and II), FORETS-FOOD and FORETS-AGRI.

The fundamental elements of FORETS 3 are therefore the tangible results already achieved in the Landscape, which are intensified and expanded with a view to their sustainability in time and space. As with previous and ongoing interventions, this project was subsequently enriched by several discussions with partners on the ground (Kisangani, Yangambi, Yanonge), multiple visitors from the Green Alliance Embassies, staff from the European Union Delegation in the DRC and other Landscapes in which the EU operates, and a growing number of international partners, both public and private, with whom CIFOR is engaged in the Yangambi Landscape in the form of co-financing for EU-funded interventions.

In summary, FORETS-III aims to build on the emerging sustainable development dynamics in the Yangambi Landscape, by consolidating support and investments in the areas of conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity, development of agroforestry sectors and access to several sources of renewable energy.
