Descriptions

The main objective of this pilot project is to build capacity of smallholder farmers and implement appropriate agroforestry and water management options for reduced soil erosion and enhanced food, water and energy security in Rutsiro district in Rwanda and Kalehe district in DRC.

The project contributes to national targets set in the Rwanda’s Green Growth Strategy, National Agroforestry Strategy, National Strategy for Transformation, Vision 2050, Three fruit trees per household program, and Integrated Water Resources Management Programme. In DRC, the project contributes mainly to the Third Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (DSCRP 2) and the Second National Environment, Forests, Water and Biodiversity Program (PNEFEB).
