CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Description

In this project, CIFOR, through the Global Landscape Forum (GLF), provides services to FAO in support of communicating forest solution pathways. In particular, GLF supports knowledge sharing and communicating forest solution pathways, including for COVID-19 recovery, aligned with the key findings of the SOFO 2022 (State of the World's Forest 2022) publication.

SOFO 2022 publication will present status and trends on forests and the provision of benefits to societies, including the impact of COVID-19. The publication will be launched at the XV World Forestry Congress (WFC), which is held once every six years and is a forum for the exchange of views and experiences on all aspects of forests and forestry. It provides a periodical opportunity to produce an overview of the sector, in order to discern trends, adapt policies, create awareness in decision-makers, and influence public opinion.

In close consultation and collaboration with FAO, GLF provides the following services:

1. Organize two highly visible, engaging and impactful GLF digital forums, including outreach
to participants and speakers, the event platform (incl. registration) and meeting logistics, an
outcome report, to promote SOFO 2022 and the three solutions pathways it highlights, to foster
discussions between global leaders, experts and changemakers and engage with a global
audience.

2. Organize and promote a dynamic, interactive online session at a GLF conference, in
conjunction with UNFCCC COP27, including supporting FAO in developing the session,
providing guidance on planning and delivering, team roles, script, format ideas and audience
engagement, and provide full technical support for the event platform and simultaneous
translation in English, French and Spanish.

3. Organize and promote an engaging and visible GLF Live session in conjunction with UNFF17,
including the production and dissemination of outreach materials, engagement with the
audiences and speakers and full technical support with the meeting platform and logistics.

4. Produce communication assets and cross-promote communication assets prepared by FAO and
partners for the promotion of SOFO 2022, its three solution pathways on all relevant media
channels.
