Abstract
The RIOFAC 2 project is supporting OFAC in its efforts to strengthen national capacities to collect data, analyse and disseminate information necessary for decision-making on Central African forests and the economic value chains that depend on them.
The RIOFAC 2 project aims to strengthen OFAC's action for better management of forest ecosystems in Central Africa through the provision of credible information for use in decision-making by contributing to the satisfaction of the following three needs:
A system for collecting, validating and managing data intrinsic to the forest-environment sector, and data from other sectors to the extent that these have relationships and impacts on the management of forest ecosystems.
The publication of information and analyses of interest for decision-making by governments and other direct or indirect actors in the management of forest ecosystems in Central Africa, as well as the provision of data through an electronic platform that allows interested actors to carry out tailor-made analyses that will meet their specific needs.
The effectiveness of OFAC through a presence established within the Central African Forestry Commission (COMIFAC), in a progressive and realistic way in application of the various decisions of the COMIFAC Council of Ministers.
The RIOFAC project is implemented in Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Chad. The implementation partner for this project are CIRAD, UCL, FRMi and the main institutional partner is COMIFAC.
