CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Description

The starting situation that the project partners aim to resolve includes improvement of the food and nutritional security, to reduce poverty and to increase the resilience of poor rural people in Southern Mali to climate change. The project promotes the resilience of ecosystems toward climate change through the promotion of low emission energy sources and ecosystem restoration. It will benefit over 42,000 households, in its intervention area, of which at least 50 per cent will be women and 30 per cent will be youth. Project implementation will rely on approach, based on partnerships with qualified partners in Mali, and in particular the international NGOs Agronomes et Vétérinaires Sans Frontières (AVSF), Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV), National Direction for Agriculture (DNA); National Direction for Animal Productions and Industries (DNPIA); Agencies related to Energy (AMADER); the Environment and Sustainable Development Agency (AEDD), etc. The project intervention area covers the regions of Kayes, Sikasso, Koulikoro and Segou. In addition, the project is focused especially in the Sudanese and Sudano-Guinean areas in Mali and will work at household level with six years (2023-2028) of duration.
