CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Descriptions

To address the overexploitation of woodfuel and deforestation and forest degradation in the Yangambi landscape, the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) has been testing several options for sustainable energy wood since 2020 in order to contribute to the reducing pressure on forests and improving the livelihoods of local communities in the Yangambi landscape.

This project responds to the objectives formulated in the ToR of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as part of the implementation of the “Oriental Integrated REDD+ Program” (PIREDD-Oriental) for the popularization and dissemination of improved stoves in the provinces of Tshopo, Bas Uélé and Ituri.
We aim to increase the use of Improved Stoves in the towns of Buta, Bunia and Kisangani through strengthening the production and marketing capacities of local actors.

To carry out activities to disseminate improved stoves in the provinces of Tshopo, Ituri and Bas Uélé, we are duplicating the approach used by CIFOR-ICRAF since 2021 in the city of Kisangani in order to contribute to improving the energy efficiency of households using wood in the city of Kisangani. In this project we aim to increase the use of Improved Stoves in the towns of Buta, Bunia and Kisangani through strengthening the production and marketing capacities of local actors.
