CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Description

The purpose of this project is to improve restoration monitoring and targeted support to 4 pilot countries under the new Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) Target 2. The services contribute to technically improve and achieve the elements foreseen in the Roadmap for GBF Target 2 to COP 16 and beyond1 and to move towards a standardized restoration reporting process. The project also contributes to the Multi-Partner Trust Fund of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, Outcome 3 - Results documented and shared, through monitoring and reporting of biophysical and socio-economic elements of sustainable ecosystem restoration and influencing activities for ecosystem restoration. Specifically contributing to Outcomes 3.1.1 FERM Registry developed and tested by restoration stakeholders, 3.1.2 Integrate geospatial data from other restoration monitoring platforms into the Registry, 3.1.4 E-learning course on monitoring restoration for efficient capacity development, 3.3.3 Support monitoring and reporting against CBD restoration target 2, 3.4.1.
