CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Descriptions

The Land Facility (LF) is a multi-country programme aimed at improving stability, inclusive growth and responsible investment by promoting more effective, efficient and equitable rural and urban land governance. The Facility will help build capacity and systems and will mobilise the necessary political support, so governments can implement and resource sustained land governance reform, leading to improved tenure security for all. The Land Facility will run for a duration of 7 years across countries in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia, and will be accompanied and supported by the Decision Support Unit (DSU). The DSU acts as a ‘critical friend’ to the Land Facility. It has the mandate and space to look beyond day-to-day operational delivery and support better delivery by critically reviewing project design, evaluating progress, drawing attention to emerging evidence and best practice in other contexts, and providing a constructive and strategic ‘challenge-function’ to improve the overall approach and value for money.

The DSU has three specific objectives:
1. to support evidence-based, outcome-oriented and VfM-driven decision-making by FCDO and the LF Lead Supplier throughout the inception phase and implementation;
2. to support and enhance effective programme learning and programme adaptation in response to that learning;
3. to promote improved understanding of programme progress and learning and appropriate action in response by targeted global stakeholders.
