CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Descriptions

The overall objective of the project is to increase agricultural productivity and marketing in targeted areas in the DRC, improve regional integration in the agricultural sector and provide an immediate and effective response in the event of a declared crisis or emergency. ICRAF, with the commitment of the other CGIAR centers, provides support for the creation of an environment conducive to intra-regional trade, the management of agricultural resources, and the promotion of a regional agricultural research program for development including Burundi. In this context, ICRAF continues its technical support for reforestation and agroforestry. The following key results are expected over the lifespan of the project:
• A total of 300 ha of slopes in the rolling countryside and rehabilitated eroded agricultural areas (including grasses and multi-purpose tree species (using erosion control practices along contour lines)
• A total of 1000 ha of agroforestry plots set up
• A total of 600 ha of community afforestation set up
• A total of 250 ha of individual afforestation set up"
