Indian Wildlife Ecology Conference 2024

We presented our work the Indian Wildlife Ecology Conference 2024 in Bangalore from 14 to 16 June 2024. This was the first edition of the Indian Wildlife Ecology Conference 2024 (https://iwecindia.in/), organised by the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore (https://www.ncbs.res.in/). It aimed to capture the significant advances in research on India’s wildlife. Nearly 500 wildlife ecologists, field biologists, and managers from over 40 institutions and 20 states attended. The conference had 24 symposia, 100 posters, 8 Special Interest Group meetings and 4 panel discussions.

The poster titled “In-situ Data from Indian Mangroves to Assess Habitat Vulnerability and Resilience to Climate Change” was presented by Ms. Samakshi Tiwari (research fellow) in ‘The ecology and conservation of marine flagship species and critical coastal habitats of India’ session. It contained the motivation, objectives, progress, outputs and details of study area of the Mangrove Monitoring in India Program.

The study was well received, and the audience appreciated the aspect of on ground data collection and were eager to know about the trends we will document over the upcoming months.
