CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Nigel Sizer - Global Forest Watch: Big Data and Improved Forest and Landscape Management

Nigel Sizer, Global Director of the Forests Program at the World Resources Institute visited CIFOR to demonstrate the Global Forest Watch, an online forest monitoring and alert system that provides the most current, reliable, and actionable information about what is happening in forests worldwide. The presentation looked at how the GFW can be used in Indonesia and across the world and highlighted WRI¹s plans to support Indonesian stakeholders with the early detection and monitoring of fires and haze during the upcoming dry season.
