The Video Baseline Survey (VBLS) was a part of the Climate-smart, Tree-based Co-investment in Adaptation and Mitigation in Asia (Smart Tree-Invest) project, which was supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development. The project had sites in Viet Nam, Indonesia and the Philippines.
As well as being a research tool to examine changes in perceptions over time, the VBLS was also a communication tool used to amplify the voices of individual farmers and government officers and share reflections through a powerful combination of moving images, sounds and stories.
In the VBLS, farmers expressed their concern for their landscapes and climate variability and its impacts, as well as desirable changes for the future.
