CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Dreams come true: the benefits of agroforestry

Hoa, a young woman in the remote highlands of Dien Bien province in Northwest Viet Nam, longs to go to university but her parents are too poor to pay for her. But after her father joins an agroforestry development program led by the World Agroforestry Centre, the results are so lucrative that Hoa is able to realise her dream. This video is the first in a series on the outcomes of the Agroforestry for Livelihoods of Smallholder Farmers in Northwest Viet Nam project, the first phase of which ran for five years until 2016. The second phase began in March 2017. The project is supported by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research and the CGIAR Research Program on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry.
