CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

ICRAF GeoScience Lab launches new Android App Africa Tree Finder

The Africa Tree Finder App (Available on Google Play Store) enables you to find suitable tree species at your location. Currently, the app can only be used within Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. The App works by either allowing you to tap on the "SPECIES FINDER" button on the map, after which you will be directed to the next screen where you will select tree species for a particular use or you can tap directly on any area of the map covered by the tilled VECEA map, after which a marker will appear showing the current vegetation type, when you tap on the maker you will be directed to the major use screen.
