CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Making Organic Fertilisers

Farmers" need for fertiliser is always an imperative. In Sulawesi, Indonesia farmers are commonly dependent on chemical fertilisers, which are costly and, if overly used, can harden the soil. As a solution, farmers can produce their own organic fertilisers. By following simple guidelines, farmers can convert readily available material, such as animal waste, vegetable scraps and leaves, into organic fertiliser.
