CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

Gender and NTFP chains in the Congo Basin

This presentation explores the roles men and women play in nine forest product value chains in the Congo Basin, what impact changes to the value chain (for example, due to new technology) has on a gender basis, and what all this means for empowering women economically. CIFOR scientist Verina Ingram gave this presentation at a session titled 'From the forest and further: forest product value chains' at the 13th Congress of the International Society of Ethnobiology, held on 20-25 May 2012 in Montpellier, France.
