Session 6.3 farmer to farmer extension in cameroon

This document discusses farmer-to-farmer extension as an approach to disseminating agricultural innovations in Cameroon. It summarizes research that assessed the use of farmer-to-farmer extension by organizations in Cameroon. The research found that 47 organizations used farmer-to-farmer extension, employing 388 lead farmers. Lead farmers provide training and advice to approximately 220 other farmers each. The research identified advantages of the approach from the perspectives of organizations and lead farmers, as well as challenges in selecting, motivating, and supporting lead farmers. It concludes that farmer-to-farmer extension shows promise but faces challenges in being properly recognized, incentivized, and integrated with other extension services.
