%X Increacing number of smallholders in rural and pre-urban areas of Eastern Africa are managing their livestock under zero grazing as a component of an intergrated farming system. improved management practice for zero grazing along with livstock breeds that produce high milk yields  have been introduced in many areas to help smallholders increase their incomes.Thousand sof farmers now own high-yielding cows which range from exotic breeds like Friesian Guernset Jersey and Ayrshire to various grades of their crosses with local Zebu cattle. Similarly keeping dairy goats (SaanenAlpineToggenburg) or their crosses for increased milk production and income is growing rapidly in many eastern African communities.
