Agroforestation is a system of land management whereby forest and agricultural products are produced on appropriate and suitable areas simultaneously or sequentially for the social economic and ecological benefit of the community (PCARRD 1979). This approach to forest occupancy management seeks to stabilize shifting cultivators by managing them in forest lands in contrast to resting them in lowland agricultural areas.
