Influence of land cover on soil mass movements in the mountains of Apurímac, Peru

Peru is a country particularly exposed and vulnerable to soil mass movements, especially in the Andes mountains which population is highly vulnerable. Mass movement results from a complex interaction of topographic, geologic and hydrologic factors. Land cover and vegetation has an impact on mass movement occurrence. In order to inform risk management or land-use planning policies, a better understanding of the relation between land cover and mass movement in the Peruvian Andes context is necessary.
