Nonconsumption indicators of poverty are various household characteristics—such as asset ownership, housing condition, access to facilities, consumption pattern, as well as household head and spouse characteristics such as age, gender, and education level—that can be used to predict household consumption expenditure or poverty levels in a relatively accurate and straightforward way.
