Lessons learned for further development of the Cristal Forest toolkit: insights from the East African case studies

This report provides an overview of the key lessons learned from the project’s implementation in its East African case studies with particular focus on how the Cristal Forest Toolkit might be further improved. This report draws from a the insights of the team in application of the Cristal Forest Toolkit with village stakeholders from three communities on the Eastern slopes of Mt. Elgon as well as a district stakeholder workshop targeting local government and NGO extension staff, and a workshop aimed at sharing preliminary analyses from the Cristal Toolkit with district stakeholders and the wider AdaptEA research team for their feedback and evaluation.

This document is an output of a CIFOR-led project, entitled: "CRiSTAL-Forests: Development of Community-based Risk Screening Tool - Adaptation and Livelihoods". This project is being implemented in collaboration with Makerere University, and the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI). Primary funding for this project was provided through a grant from UNITAR (G.EGP.2011.03). Complementary funding was received from a CIFOR-led project funded by the Rockefeller Foundation (2011 CRD 306).
