For most countries in East Africa, small-scale agriculture is the main economic activity and source of livelihood for most people living in rural areas. Agricultural development is therefore likely to play a crucial role in the future development of this region. Strategies for this type of development must consider ways to help small-scale farmers cope with climate vulnerability.
