Danau Sentarum's wildlife: Part 2 : habitat characteristics and biodiversity distribution within and surrounding Danau Sentarum

This paper is a broad analysis of wildlife habitat usage and the need for habitat conservation in Danau Sentarum National Park and in the area surrounding it. Many of the key areas for local species are found in the intact peat swamp and hill forests outside the boundaries of the park proper. This would suggest that the inclusion of all the forests that surround the lakes in the park would greatly increase biodiversity in the park. At the moment it is absolutely vital to obtain more data in order to fill in gaps and to make a good case to protest against accelerating habitat destruction and uncontrolled harvest and trade impacts.
