Agroforestry, the practice of growing trees alongside crops, covered 8.2% of India's land in 2013, providing significant benefits such as timber, improved land productivity, soil conservation, climate moderation, and increased farmer income. However, its broader adoption faced challenges due to technical, regulatory, and financial barriers, and the absence of a clear policy.
