Many small enterprises in both rural and urban milieu function without a business plan, know nothing about the sub sector approach and have no reliable accounting system. This makes it practically impossible for such enterprises geared at income generation to ever realize profits. In a bid to reverse the trend, the Agricultural and Tree Products Program in the West and North West provinces of Cameroon, organized trainings in Bafoussam and Bamenda from 15-19 September 2008. In all, fifty participants (twenty-five per province) were trained on four main topics: sub sector approach, marketing strategies, financial management of enterprises and how to draw up a business plan. The program is financed by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Government of Cameroon, under the Food for Progress program and it being implemented by ICRAF.
