Design principles for land and watershed management in western Kenya

The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD), Kenya are collaborating on a project on "Improved Land Management in the Lake Victoria Basin", funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). One of the objectives of that project is to evaluate how the interests of different stakeholders in land use in the Lake Victoria basin of western Kenya can be catalyzed into more effective management of land and watersheds. This one-day workshop was convened to help identify key "design principles' that could contribute to the success of institutions and organizations for land and watershed management. Four invited papers were presented and discussed.
