CIFOR–ICRAF publishes over 750 publications every year on agroforestry, forests and climate change, landscape restoration, rights, forest policy and much more – in multiple languages.

CIFOR–ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We deliver actionable evidence and solutions to transform how land is used and how food is produced: conserving and restoring ecosystems, responding to the global climate, malnutrition, biodiversity and desertification crises. In short, improving people’s lives.

International Centre for Research in Agroforestry: Annual Report 1995

Nineteen ninety five was a paradoxical year for ICRAF, as we experienced both emerging research breakthroughs and funding shortfalls. it was also a year of high exposure to our donors and our partners in the CGIAR, many of whom visited our headquarters and research sites in Kenya in conjunction with the CGIAR Mid-Term Meeting in May and the TAC 68 meeting at ICRAF in December. We faced serious financial difficulties because of unexpected shortfalls in donor funding mid year, followed by an interruption in the funding of the Alternatives to Slash-and-Burn Programme. We had to reset priorities and terminate 7 senior positions. However, thanks to the assistance of CGI4R and the timely support of the governments of Norway and India, we could continue our work and restore our financial health.
