International Centre for Research in Agroforestry: Annual Report 1992

ICRAF had a busy and exciting 1992, my first full year as Director General. Its transition from a Council, providing advice and information, to a Centre undertaking strategic and applied research was further consolidated during the year. Building upon ICRAF's strong tradition of collaborative research and dissemination, the Centre produced a strategic plan-The Way Ahead-which provides the foundation for its work during the next decade towards mitigating tropical deforestation, land depletion and rural poverty. Also in December 1992, the Centre produced the first draft of its Medium-term Plan, which will guide its work for 1994-98. As a result of the strategy development and medium-term planning exercise, ICRAF's research and dissemination activities were consolidated into seven programmes and 23 projects.
