Managing Change is a critical element for all organisations regardless of what their major activities are. Appreciating change puts an organisation in a favorable position to handle change when it happens. An organization is a social arrangement, made up of individuals for the controlled performance of collective goals in achieving certain objectives. Organisations, just like human beings are dynamic, and change from the present state to a future state, is inevitable. The right kind of change, enables an organization to maintain its viability in the complex operating environment. There are many reasons why change is necessary for the survival of the organization, such as, competition within the market, customer demands, business growth, market decline and environmental factors. These organizational changes may originate due to external or internal influences. Analytical tools are applied to assist in distinguishing and classifying the changes, and hence identifying the type, whether planned or unplanned. In identifying the organizational changes, the management also has to identify the forces that would act, to facilitate the change and the forces acting against it. These forces can either be internal or external, at individual level or organizational level. Further analytical tools have to be applied to distinguish the forces and possible solutions, to overcoming the resistance. Before any change is implemented, the information has to be shared within the organization to achieve the same level of understanding at all levels. All possible channels of communication should be explored and feedback obtained. When the organization is implementing the changes, they should be classified into short term ‘wins’ and long-term changes. This provides planning for distribution and allocation of resources, and time frames. This project looks at a real situation of a selected organisation it puts in use some of the tools and methods for the change process and provides suggestions of change to the organisation. In analysing the organisation’s current situation, background information was collected to give the group useful information to make sound conclusions. The analysis gives the agents of change a foundation on which the need for change can be r ecognised. Change can be a conduit for improvement leading to the success of any organisation. Change also gives an organization an opportunity to address issues of problems or difficulties that may occur in any operational areas, such as management, staff, product location, organisation’s goals or simply in the process of expansion. Sometimes change inevitable when crisis such as natural disasters or wars, take place.
