Global Water Partnership (GWP) Associated Programme on "Water Conservation for Agriculture and Domestic use": Annual Report, 2005-2006

This annual report is exceptional in the sense that it marks the conclusion of Phase I of the GWP Associated Programme. It therefore has a section particularly dedicated for the third year but projecting into the no-cost extension period that eventually concludes the Programme by the 31 st of December 2006. This section follows the convention of annual reports for the previous two years and thus recognizes activities undertaken by its two partners i.e. RELMA- in-ICRAF and Centre for Science and Environment in Southern and Eastern Africa and South Asia regions respectively. Major achievement for the programme during its entire life of three and a half years are also captured. During the last year of Phase I, there was more focus on support at regional level as activities on national scales were phased out. In order to reduce on costs, a regional seminar for SearNet information representatives was conducted in Mombasa, Kenya, to train participants on how to capitalize on web-based information packaging and dissemination. The SearNet Briefs Newsletter was posted online as an electronic e-newsletter, with responsibility for its production scheduled on a national rotational basis. This would also nurture autonomy and sustainability of the SearNet secretariat
