The perennial shrub Chromolaena odorata (L.) King and H.Robinson, was first introduced intoWest Africa in the late 1930s. It has since spreadrapidly throughout West and Central Africa, from Guineato northern Angola and central Zaire. C. odorata has become a troublesome weed in open spaces, clearings around humansettlements, in early secondary succession, crop andpasture lands, and in young tree crop plantations
