Large cuttings: a jump start for tree planting

At Chorotega, in northwestern Costa Rica, the farmers use traditional planting methods that are of great value in reforestation. Selected vertical stems are cut and planted in prepared soil in April. More than 80% arrive at maturity. This method is used in Latin America, Africa and Asia for more than 60 species of trees.
