The paper presents a survey carried out in Kabale, Uganda to determine the extent of Calliandra use among farmers. Calliandra a multipurpose, fast growing shrub was introduced to the country over a decade ago. Knowing the factors that enhance its adoption and expansion and any constraints to its wider use is important for the design of research and development activities. The factors identified as enhancing or hindering the adoption of the shrub are discussed and evaluated; and recommendations presented.
