The paper reports on a consultancy carried out in western Kenya to study the effectiveness of agroforestry technologies transfer in the area. It starts by describing the testing and dissemination of the biomass transfer technology. This is a technology that involves the transfer of biomass from hedges onto farmland. In this technology the use of Tithonia diversifolia in combination with rock phosphate in enhancing of soil fertility is tested. It discusses the channels used in the diffusion of information to farmers. The use of participatory learning action research (PLAR) on integrated soil fertility management is also discussed.
